The Next Generation Rockstars

YEAHHAW GUYZ, just sittin’ here in an apartment at Mäkelänrinne and writing. Yesterday we played in Torvi Lahti and the whole day went through neatly. Hopped in the Onnibus early morning with a bunch of supplies and got to the “Chicago Of Finland” for a short picnic a park nearby Matkakeskus. Shopped some groceries and checked in to Forenom hotel but the family room was too small for five of us so the clerk downstairs gave me an own private room with two beds, AWESOME!

The boys had changed a car and were late because of that but we got on time to Torvi for a soundcheck. Miia sold the tickets and we started about 10pm. The gig went well so had to put on a typical “groupie party” till the place was closed. Chatted long with Markus, an old rocker born in Sweden. After the doors were closed we loaded out and picked pizzas. Jay was too damn hungry to drive so he basically ate the whole box of kebab before cruisin’ our Volvo to parking hall under the ground.

Watched Finnish Soap Opera but also dropped by guys’ room to search some candies. Haha, didn’t find them but drifted to a little wrestling match with Tiger! In the mornin’ I fuckin’ broke my nail and damn that did hurt. Like that wasn’t bad enough a clerk at a kiosk nearby thought I was a thief while wondering there with a hood over my head searching for those damn candies. How fuckin’ stereotypical!

The bus dropped us to Kamppi a little late so I basically ran to Kaisaniemi Park to meet Marjut for a key and a parking permission and then back to Malminkatu to pick up our god damn car before the guys did check in to their hotel right around the corner. Now we’re finishing our new vests made by Miia, THEY’RE GONNA BE FREAKIN’ RAD!!

Last week we did fly to Saint Petersburg for Jalasvaara’s weddings. First things first, walked straight to Avenue 55 on Nevsky Prospect. Ordered borch soup with traditional Russian cheeses. We ate there also before leavin’ St. Petersburg. Recommendings if you don’t mind little higher prices. Stylish and cool! The waiter guided us to the right direction and a super helpful lady called the reception because we couldn’t find the front door of Elegy Mini Hotel on Rubinsteina Street.

After a little rest we wondered in a heat along Nevsky to The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood but also dropped by the beach boulevard and walked through The Bronze Horseman statue all the way to Saint Isaac's Cathedral. Still hungry we ate some chicken noodle vodka soaps in Soviet Café – the cheapest & the most traditional restaurant around the city centre.

Next mornin’ we ate a good breakfast at the hotel and walked through the whole town. First we dropped by Smolna Cathedral before a long walk to Vybourskaya. Miia found a toilet from Burger King Petrogradskya and we snapped some pictures in front of a castle full of old Russian war machines. Right before walking through a bridge to Vasilieotrosvsky Uni Area found a large Pirate Ship which pics you can find for example from my Instagram.

I ordered a beer can of 2 litres in Marius Pub and we ate like royals there right before Janne walked in with Anna so we drank and ate some more. Miia & Noppa bought a pack of beer from the store nearby and we hopped on a taxi to a luxury mall on Bolshaya Konyusjennaya Street where my friend found new shoes and Louis Vuitton’s bag for his sister. They brought some champagne and after a while we were drinkin’ beer in Sokos Hotel. After that we headed to Temple Hookah Bar on Rubisnsteina to smoke some water pipe and drank some Cuba Libres & Pina Coladas.

Next morning came quick but Miia was still feeling a bit bad so I headed out for a short afternoon walk. My route went through Vladimirskya Metro Stop to Pushkinskya Station and turned right to Sennaya Marketplace. I really wanted to see the place where Raskolnikov lived in Crime And Punishment by Fjodor Dostojevski. After that walked all the way to Hotel Moscow and over the bridge to Novocherskaya metro tunnel before meeting my gf again for a ship cruise to Petergof. The place was NUTS, it was built at first just like Russian palaces but after the earl had visited Versailles, he wanted to build Petergof to match with the French one. Took a bus from Petrodvorets and drove back Nevsky.

The wedding day started cruisin’ by bus from Staraya Derevna station to Kronstad. Because the traffic jams we were late and some super nice ladies guided us back to metro station even though the bus was still standing in jams in the middle of the road no bus stop nearby. Ran along Nevsky to catch the taxi to Repino in front of our hotel and just got dressed like in five minutes. Actually it was relaxing to finish up there on the backseat and drink few beers before arriving Solnechnaya. Saw all the boys and girls on the front terrace enjoying the refreshments, champagne, cheeses and snacks.

The ceremony was super beautiful arranged near the beach but in the shadows of large trees. Haha, Noppa had Hells Bells as the entrance song when he came in. Soon we were eating tasty foods, smokin’ shisha on the terrace and swimming in The Gulf Of Finland. After 2am we called a cab back and I slept the whole trip. The last day was too rainy to do anything real in Russia but managed to see Gostinyi Dvor and The Indoor Market of Kuznets before heading to Moskovskya and all the way to Pulkovo.

The Spring was full of concerts and I did lost my voice quite few times. The last part of tour started from Bar Ohari. Watched hockey and got there right before the first set of acoustic. The place was fuckin’ PACKED! Played also with Kaleva and chilled some time after the show before calling the ride back home. On Saturday we played in Wood Bar with GHS. My morning started with a jogging around the rainy town but before our show it was shining. We played one of the best acoustic one we’ve been doing and dropped by Huikka before fading to Subway and finally home.

Olohuone & Caio were next in line. Right before startin’ to play in Puolivälinkangas my fuckin’ guitar broke so had to play without the electrics. Screamed my ass off but the set of Kaleva was probably the best we’ve played and the place went nuts! Had to rush back home because we played next evening in Caio. Got there to soundcheck right from the trainings of GHS and after few hours we were playin’ again with Mike. Jay & Matt also came by to check out our show and having few beers. Played billiards till’ the morning and called again our trusted driver for a ride.

Needed a little break from the bands so packed our stuff and drove in sunshine to Levi. As we were snowboarding through the woods down to our cabin we got lost but what the heck, we had a navigator and the sun was warming us so finally found the right door and chilled in the front of the fireplace, playing mysterious Rusty Lake Hotel & as a coroner in Her Story with our laptop. They’ve made some good new games for Play Store Samsung, I’d recommend also Alto’s Adventures for all snowboarders and also Rody Fight which is kinda like those old, classic arcades in game halls. As well I’d say that Tales From The Borderlands is maybe the best by Telltale – if you’re into games like Space Quest or so!

Next day we made some Mint Cacao and bought Morbier Cheese for the long day. Also ate in Renna (but got super lousy service this time) and later in the super cool Sushi Place along the main street of the village. Dropped by Palovartija Peak Bar in the middle of the day but it was freezing so drank the beers fast and got back to the slopes. It was time to get back to business and we played again with GHS boys in Winger May Day show. Matt passed out the next morning because the dude hadn’t slept in few days, hahaha! Pals partied the night away, we did a walk at the marketplace before the traditional Formula One competition of May Day.

We were supposed to record our new single Navy Blue in the studio of Mika Pohjola at Soundmix. The whole week of recordings was super funny and I also got inspired to buy a new synth Roland Juno-Di. Maybe the best synth I’ve played so far. We launched the single in Raatti Stadion on the next Wednesday and I was still in flu. Well whiskey cures everything, I was a bit drunk but still able to play on Friday. Marjut visited us the same time and it was getting warmer so we were stoked to rock Katrilli again. Played a good set but Mike got into some drama with his former co-worker outside and the cops had to come by, hahaha.

That was the night I lost my voice completely and wasn’t able to sing the day at all. In Hiukkavaara I tried to open the voice but no – not a single wheeze. Ate pizzas in Katrilli and packed Jukka’s van for our set in Utajärvi. Laura had to sing the whole night and after the night our driver drove us back straight to Huikka again. Chatted little while with a guitarist of Ventura Highway and the guy was actually all right, yeah! During the Mother’s Day visited our parents with Miia & Marjut – watched hockey & ate some quality snacks. Marjut grilled on our balcony later in the evening in sunshine, AWESOME!

During the studio sessions we played our traditional May Snookers with Andy in City Biljard. After that drove to mighty Kivisydän and the new Mall Valkea which both were actually pretty much okay. Ordered some Jungle Juices and did run into Zero Nine’s guitarist Timo but after that I realized I really need a motorbike. Did test a couple of ones but fell IN LOVE with Intruder 1400. So I fuckin’ bought that. They changed the tires and I also wanted new pipes and handlebars from Motorman. Skateboarding season started as well so skated to the soundcheck in Tuba with my new globe board.

Tuba was okay, Mike & Erno went to Amarillo but personally bought some tortilla ingredients from 24/7 Sale Raksila. Next day cruised a bit, bought a new backpack for Intruder and watched hockey until it was time to hit Kiiminki for the last show of our tour. The place was great and people so friendly, ate the pizzas they offered us and dropped the instruments to Mike’s office. I’d booked lots to do for the next day. First drove to Castren Stadion for Northern Lights first home match and they actually won! After that drove to Madetoja cause’ Hanky played with Viventi there, it was nice to chat with Mira after a little while as well.

Needed a new suit as a first thing after the break from the gigs started. Dressman offered something good in their new collection. Bought a grey one and hopped on the bike to drive Kuopio. Got there late and next day we spent with Nitro – dude had come to buy a new Gibson. Ordered few beers in Malja and some snacks as well in Food before searching some stuff from Citypörssi Flea Market. Nitro bought sushi crockery, visited Viking Music coz’ we needed some leather straps – didn’t find even though the place was maybe the coolest instrument shop I’ve ever been in.

Later Jake wanted to party with us so the dude bring gallons of beer and ciders with him. Sat there till the mornin’ in Henry’s as Reckless Love & Shiraz Lane hosted their after parties, GOOD TIMES! As we drove back to Oulu the mothafuckin’ horn detached from the bike and we were opening the beers when I realized that the bike still got started and we were able to drive back to Euro MotorCenter. After some bickering they promised to fix the horn.

Bought subs from the new XXXL Sport nearby and got some bad news, Jay was in hospital because of an inflamed liver. Fortunately it’s gone better just after droppin’ drinking and smoking and we’ve been rollerblading to the trainings a couple of weeks now. KTP Conference 2016 was hectic and went on till’ the alumni party in Saalastinsali on Friday. That weekend we spent at my parents, just chillin’ on the beach, playing summer games, jogging and eating like pigs. Refreshing shit!

OH YEAH, played in Bar Backstage few days ago. Saw the guys in front of the venue which I reached by a taxi with all our stuff packed in the trunk. The guys of Rust N’ Rage were a bit late so grabbed salads from the market nearby and enjoyed the sun with a beer and a couple of cigs. Before our check I noticed that my lip piercing was missing the other knob. Had to run all the way to Forum’s Cybershop to grab a new one. Quickly dropped by Citykoti with the guys before gettin’ onstage.

Jason came to say hi like few seconds before the show started and that gave me a lot of energy for the stage. Played a quite good one, it was super nice to see my former choir members and hockey friends there in the audience as well. We gathered around the table there in the downstairs’ backstage right after, chatted a while before puttin’ the party on. Tiger left immediately but we drank till’ the mornin’ with the guys of Scars Remind, Rust N´ Rage and the regulars of the bar, GOOD TIMES. Moshed my ass off and sipped the shots Jason bought us, hahahahaha!

We drove Atte to his gf’s apartment with our cab and ate before passing out. Had to drive in the mornin’ to catch our equipment and to grab something to eat with the girls. Matt had been partying with Jimi and few other guys and was spendin’ the night somewhere else so all the boys were drunk as hell. They went through Rotterdam, Ikkuna and The Riff during the night as the girls wanted to continue the night in Virgin Oil because Anna Abreu played there. We had to run for bus and wasn’t actually able to watch the street hockey competition in Narinkkatori, unfortunately.
After Italy opened their Euro 2016 with a 2-0 victory (they usually lose their first match) against Belgium (Scorers: Giaccherrini & Pelle), it’s easy to smile and list my traditional recommendings:

Rick & Morty (This to watch with weeds and snacks, haha… Kinda sick adults’ cartoon about a crazy scientist  and a boy getting crazy adventures in time and in the other dimensions. Sounds familiar? Yeah I think they made this as a parody of Back To The Future which makes this even more SICK. Nevertheless – this is actually super funny!!)

Bella Vita (Tells a story about a California surfer dude Chris Del Moro goin’ back to his roots in Italy. He searches the spots by a motorbike and gets to know Italians better. The movie is easy to watch and chill, kinda cool and purgative way of narrating so recommending this to boarders and laid back bikers and so on…)

21 Days Under The Sky (It’s all about being on the road, it’s about five guys driving across United States for a motorcycle meeting. I’d call this 22th century Easy Rider, even though this is more like a documentary. Big bikes, big feelings and legendary riders from the 60’s being interviewed. I’d say that this is a MUST for all the bikers!)

Stoning Of Soraya M. (Tragic story about a woman from an Iran village being stoned because of “cheating” his husband. Well like said, she’s not a cheater, her husband just wants to get rid of her so he makes the story up. This is not fully fictive which makes it even more touching – it questions the sanity of religions.)

Blue Ruin (FUCKIN* GREAT movie about a homeless guy livin’ as a hobo in a car. He’s mission is to revenge the murder of his parents so he goes after the former prisoner who killed them. It turns out that he wasn’t a killer so the vicious family comes after the main character. It’s the best thriller in looong time and asks is there any point for revenge at all – just watch the mankind and think!)

Hyena Road (I’ve mentioned earlier that they fuckin’ make awesome war dramas after a break of at least 15 years. Again – worth of watching, it’s about the Canadian troops in Afghanistan, the operation fucked up and a mystic Muslim leader with the strange eyes helping the Western troops staying alive. There’s also a dangerous relationship between two soldiers in the base as they go again after the mystical boss. Can’t tell more – just watch it! Well not as good as the war movies I’ve told earlier but okay for rainy Sunday afternoons.)

The 33 (The only one on the list which is actually no go! I guess you remember the incident of the Chilean minors buried deep under the ground accidentally. It counts on superstars like Banderas but the story is just too boring to inspire anyone. I tried and tried but fell asleep watching this after a long day snowboarding in Levi.)

11.22.63 (Maybe the best TV series of 2016 so far from FOX, written by Stephen King and about a guy gettin’ back 1960’s in time to prevent the murder of JFK. You probably know that I fuckin’ love time travelling stories and this one is the top end for sure!!)
